Small series injection moulding

Our small series injection moulding enables you to flexibly cover your annual requirement for injection moulded parts and reliably supply your customers. Without needing to produce cost-intensive series tools, we can produce quantities of 50,000+ injection moulded parts on our high-quality tools. And even when using several aluminium tools, there is usually a cost advantage over a steel series tool.

Hybrid component made of metal and plastic

Insert & outsert technology

Insert technology has proven itself as a method for prototype and small series production with low peripheral complexity: Prefabricated metal parts (inserts) are inserted by hand and overmoulded with thermoplastic materials in the process. With outsert technology, the insert which the plastic is injected onto has a larger surface area than the plastic. Ideal for complex hybrid components!

Two-component & multi-component injection moulding

We realise the rapid and economical production of your 2C plastic injection moulded parts made from different plastic materials using the 2C injection moulding process, in which two or more plastic components are processed using transfer technology. Thanks to this injection moulding technique, 2C or multi-component injection moulded parts can even be produced economically in small quantities.

Information centre

Why should you prefer an injection moulded part to a 3D printed part?
Injection moulded parts from priomold match parts from series tools in terms of quality and surface finish. In addition, injection moulded parts reflect the true material properties of the respective plastic and are therefore suitable for visual and functional prototypes.

Are injection moulded parts expensive and complicated?
It can be economical to have injection moulded parts made by priomold even with small quantities. Thanks to our automated processes, we can produce plastic parts for you efficiently, cost-effectively and with a short cycle time. You can order injection moulded parts from us as easily as milling or 3D printing parts. We will provide you with a quote based on your CAD file and produce injection moulded parts within a few working days.

What should an enquiry to priomold contain for us to be able to make you the most suitable offer possible?
It is best to supply us with the 3D data and/or drawing, the desired material, the initial quantity and, if applicable, the series quantity and application with your enquiry.

Which data formats can we process?
priomold works with common, international data interfaces that can be exported from virtually any CAD environment. These include STEP (.stp, .step), IGES (.igs, .iges), and STL (.stl).

How quickly can I get a quote from priomold?
Our priority is short turnaround times, and this also applies to preparing quotations. If you contact us using our enquiry form, you can expect a detailed quote within one working day.

How do I design my plastic parts’ wall thicknesses?
Geometries of plastic parts produced by injection moulding should have the most homogeneous wall thickness possible. Accumulations of material and bulky wall thickness may lead to sink marks.
It is better to apply structures and reinforcing ribs rather than increase the wall thickness.

What makes a plastic injection moulded part expensive and complex?
High wall thickness can cause long cooling times and sink marks. Sink marks and gloss spots can form due to variations in wall thickness. These factors make the parts more expensive and complex to produce.

What makes a tool expensive and complex?
Internal undercuts make oblique cores necessary.
This results in high throughput times in toolmaking. Contour ejectors (i.e., there are no straight surfaces on which ejectors can be placed) require contour adjustments to the ejectors. All these factors make a tool more expensive and complex.

Which materials do we use?
We can process all common thermoplastics on our injection moulding machines. These include: thermoplastics such as ABS, PC, PA66, PA6, PC-ABS, POM, PP, PE, PEEK which are available with various fillers such as glass fibres, glass beads, carbon fibres, mineral fibres and much more. We also process thermoplastic elastomers (behave like rubber), such as TPE or TPV.

Who provides the material?
You are welcome to provide the material for your project yourself. You can indicate this immediately in our enquiry form.

Can I specify the shrinkage?
You are welcome to specify the plastic shrinkage yourself in our enquiry form.

Which quantities can we produce?
We produce injection moulded parts from a quantity of 1 to 100,000 pieces, depending on the plastic used and customer requirements.

I do not have any in-house capacity, can priomold design components suitable for injection moulding or assist us with this?
We would be pleased to offer you the optimisation and/or design specifically for injection moulding based on your drawing or sample part. Our experts will then provide you with the revised component as a STEP file.

Does priomold offer complementary services such as painting, packaging, assembly or the like?
We have a large network of partners and can offer you many services. This way, you have one contact person for your project and get everything from one source. Please do get in touch with us!

What form of initial sampling does priomold offer?
priomold offers initial sampling according to VDA or according to customer requirements, just ask us for a quote! We also offer entries in IMDS upon request.

Is there a time limit for the storage of the tools?
Our standard free-of-charge storage period for your tools is three years after the last parts order.

How quickly can injection moulded parts be delivered to you?
Depending on the complexity of the component, priomold can supply you with plastic parts in series quality within a few working days. We have already completed projects in less than three working days. You can let us know what is your desired delivery date in our enquiry form.
